Friday Craft Kit- Adinkra Inspired Printmaking

This week's Friday Craft Kit is a printmaking craft inspired by the tradition of Adinkra symbols/fabric created by the Ashanti people of what is now Ghana.

1. Choose a design from the list of Adinkra symbols below (or create your own symbol!)
2. Draw your symbol on a piece of foam.
3. Cut out the symbol.
4. Glue the symbol onto cardboard square

5. Use a fork to divide the paper into segments.
6. Paint the symbol (I suggest getting a lot of paint on it with a paintbrush or pouring paint on a plate to use as a stamp pad)
7. Stamp different patterns of your symbol(s) and create your own design!
Here's mine! I chose symbols that represent friendship (I think it looks like a cross-section of a tomato!) and loyalty.

Pick up this craft kit at the Children's Desk or at the drive through window!
