Monday Craft Kits: Stacking Hearts and Mosaic Collage

We've got some Valentine's themed craft kits for your kiddos this Monday morning! For 2-4 year olds, you can pick up this Stacking Hearts Craft Kit! And for 5-7 year olds, we have a craft that helps little hands work on coordination, matching, and numbers: a Valentine Mosaic Collage.  As usual you can pick up the Craft Kits at the Children's Desk or the drive through while supplies last!

Friday Craft Kit- Adinkra Inspired Printmaking

This week's Friday Craft Kit is a printmaking craft inspired by the tradition of Adinkra symbols/fabric created by the Ashanti people of what is now Ghana.    1. Choose a design from the list of Adinkra symbols below (or create your own symbol!)  2. Draw your symbol on a piece of foam. 3. Cut out the symbol. 4. Glue the symbol onto cardboard square    5. Use a fork to divide the paper into segments.  6. Paint the symbol (I suggest getting a lot of paint on it with a paintbrush or pouring paint on a plate to use as a stamp pad) 7. Stamp different patterns of your symbol(s) and create your own design!  Here's mine! I chose symbols that represent friendship (I think it looks like a cross-section of a tomato!) and loyalty.  Pick up this craft kit at the Children's Desk or at the drive through window!

Monday Craft Kits, Neighborhood Storytime, and a February Reading Challenge!

Pick up your craft kits for a Fill My Heart With Love Penguin (2-4 year olds) or an Origami Unicorn (5-7 year olds) at the drive through window or the Children's Dept. until supplies run out! Ms. Brenda will bring extra to our Neighborhood Storytime tomorrow morning at Stevenson Park Pavilion at 10:30am! Be sure to sign up for our Fall in Love with Reading February Challenge on Beanstack! It's easy to make an account and track the time you spend reading at friendswood.beanstack.org  and is designed for all ages! Log time spent reading and write reviews to unlock digital badges. If you choose to share your review publicly, we'll put it on a bookmark in that book to inspire someone to read it!
