First Lines

Just got a stack of new books that look particularly good. Thought I'd tease you with their first lines. Would you check out these books just from reading their first sentence?

"On the day she was to die, Liyana walked out of her family's tent to see the dawn."
                                   Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst

"The rain poured down on London so hard it seemed that it was dancing spray, every raindrop contending with its fellows for supremacy in the air and waiting to splash down."
                                   Dodger by Terry Pratchett

"The two girls on the beach in their flowing gowns could have been mistake for water nymphs, if water nymphs wore gold-edged togas."
Beneath the Glitter by Elle & Blair Fowler

"I will never forget the day my family got cut off from the Internet."
                                Pirate Cinema by Cory Doctorow

"It looked set to become even hotter by the afternoon, just when the job was becoming more fiddly and needed extra concentration."
The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde

"Addie and I were born into the same body, our souls' ghostly figners entwined before we gasped our very first breath."
What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang

If you're interested in any of these, I will have them at the YA video game program tomorrow at 4:30 or you can put them on hold!

DFTBA,
Sti

Coraline Trailer!

Here's the best trailer for Coraline so far. And it's actually Neil Gaiman's (he wrote the book) favorite! The movie comes out February 6th and I'll definitely be seeing it that weekend, so if you want to see it with me let me know and we can get a group of people to see it together! I know Kathleen and Mallory are already on board! dftba, Sti

I chose the name Book Bag after looking at the names of some other libraries' blog titles, but if there is a better name out there, let me know! I created this blog primarily so you can find out what activities are coming up for the 11-16 age group here at the library. I'll be posting brief descriptions of our activities, photos, book reviews, and other interesting things that I happen to see. In recent news: the TAG Christmas party was December 8, and everyone worked together to make it a success. Thanks to all the hardworking volunteers! We ate holiday snacks, sang Christmas karaoke, and had a snowball fight outside! Check out the library's Flickr site for all the pictures. We're taking a brief break during the Christmas holidays, but we'll be starting up again on January 11 with personalizing snack dishes to use every week. Instead of throwing away bowls and cups after our Fr...
