March Madness Wrap Up

Apologies for taking so long to give you the final score for March Madness.

As usual with my life things have been crazy.
Here are a few things that happened since I last posted:
  • Visited my sister in Spain for 2 weeks (family fun!)
  • Attended the Texas Library Association annual conference (meeting cool authors and librarians fun!)
  • Served on a jury (surprisingly fun!)
  • Found out I need a root canal (not fun AT ALL)
So that's a bit of my life. But what you really came here to find out about is the results of our 3rd annual March Madness: Genre Edition!

The final two genres to face off were Paranormal and Fantasy, which I think we can agree was not a surprise. And that's a hard choice to make because in many ways the genres are very similar, indeed I think the lines between them are often blurred. But this is how I simplified it, 'do you prefer books about wizards or books about vampires?'

Apparently people prefer books about wizards, because Fantasy beat Paranormal! Were you surprised?

In addition to voting on genres, all of the winning books from past weeks were brought back to compete against each other one more time. The contenders (in order from least votes to most votes) were:

#7 Newes from the Dead  by Mary Hooper

#6 Cinder by Marissa Meyer

#5 Lord Loss: Demonata Book 1 by Darren Shan

#4 Firelight by Sophie Jordan

#3 Divergent by Veronica Roth

#2 Little Brother by Cory Doctorow

#1 Graceling by Kristin Cashore.

Thanks for taking part in this year's competition! I hope you found some new books to interest you. And I thought you should know, the sequels to Graceling (Bitterblue) and Divergent (Insurgent) are now out! So put them on hold now!

DFTBA,
Sti
