C.S. Lewis and Louisa may Alcott. What do they have in common?

One was an American author born in 1832 who is most famous for  Little Women, her (semi-autobiographical) book about the lives of the March sisters Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. *

The other is an Irish author born in 1898 most famous for The Chronicles of Narnia, a series set in the fictional world of Narnia.**

Well, they actually have a few things in common. Their books are wildly popular with children and adult alike. They have been read and reread for generation and have been adapted to film and stage for years.

The other thing they have in common is that today is their birthday! And you know how I feel about birthdays!

So Happy Birthday C.S.Lewis and Louis May Alcott! May your books continue to bring joy to readers everywhere!

DFBTA,
Sti
*Alcott was a prolific writer and a really interesting person. Her dad was a transcendentalist and Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau were close family friends.

**C.S. Lewis was also pretty awesome. Besides his Narnia series he wrote a science fiction trilogy and many many non-fiction books about Christianity. He was also a good friend of J.R.R. Tolkien, writer of the Lord of the Rings.

The book Little Women is a heart-warming story. It is one I would read more than once. I dont see how anyone could not like it,exept maybe boys. I chose it because I had seen the movie and i heard that the book was one you can't go your life without reading,so I went to my school library and checked it out.
This book is about four sisters growing up during the 1800's. They are faced with many challenges they must overcome. These things bring them closer and closer. During the war their father must leave for war as a chaplain. While he is there he gets injured and Marmee (the girls mother) has to go take care of him. The girls must help there mother out by taking care of themselves. The girls have to deal with many other things such as losing people they love, getting married, saying goodbye, and falling in love.
My favorite character was Marmee I liked her because she was so loving and hardworking. Through the many difficult trials in life she remained strong. When I grow up I hope I can be like that,
I don't want to tell you anymore i want to let you read the other things yourself. I hope you don't have anywhere to be because once you start reading this book you can't put it down. I recomend this book for girls of any age, young or old I am sure you will enjoy.

Zaki Con 2019: Cosplay Contest!

The final event  of Zaki Con is our cosplay contest. I assume you're familiar with cosplay if you're reading, but just in case you aren't: cosplay is " the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime." And anyone can do it! Young and old alike are adorable when dressing as their favorite characters from books, movies, and anime! At Zaki Con, we want to see your interpretation of cosplay! You can enter as one person or as a group (though groups will have to share prizes if they win). All you have to do is come dressed as your favorite character. Since Zaki Con is a family event and it is held in the public library, all costumes must be appropriate for our setting and audience! Entries will be judged by a panel of judges from the library and the community. We look forward to seeing your cosplays during the Con and at the contest which will be held at 5:00pm on Saturda

Duct Tape Pencil Bag

 1. Gather supplies.  2. Unwrap one length of duct tape and carefully set plastic bag on top. Go slowly so there are no air bubbles in the duct tape! 3. Unwrap other color of duct tape and tape the opposite side of the bag. 4. Trim extra duct tape off. 5. Continue adding duct tape (You can do all one color on each side or alternate like I did. Trim sides so everything is even.  6. Optional, if you want to store your pencil bag in your binder, mark where the rings are located. 6. Use a hole punch to make holes. 7. Decorate with stickers or permanent markers!
