Movie Monday: Legend of the Guardians (Guardians of Ga'Hoole)

Okay, confession time. But first, an obvious fact: there are a lot of books at the library. And here's the confession: I haven't read all of them.

Shocking, I know

Anyway, one series of books that I haven't read and haven't even thought to read was the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series by Kathryn Lasky. But now that I've seen the trailer for the movie, I might want to....
"Deep in the Forest of Tyto the adventure takes wing! Soren is born in a forest kingdom where Barn Owls have lived in peace for eons. But evil now lurks in the owl world, an evil that will shatter Tyto's peace and change Soren's life forever. In the first four books of this popular series Soren and his band make their way to the Great Ga'Hoole Tree where they will join with like-minded owls - honest, brave, wise and true - to boldly face danger and be tested in ways they never imagined." -amazon.com

Sounds cool now! Here's the trailer. It's in 3-D (the movie, not the trailer) and looks absolutely gorgeous:

Here's one of the book covers:

And here's one of the movie posters:Align Center

Is anyone planning on seeing this? Who wants to go with me and tell me how wrong they got it? :)

Coraline Trailer!

Here's the best trailer for Coraline so far. And it's actually Neil Gaiman's (he wrote the book) favorite! The movie comes out February 6th and I'll definitely be seeing it that weekend, so if you want to see it with me let me know and we can get a group of people to see it together! I know Kathleen and Mallory are already on board! dftba, Sti

First Blog Ever!

Well, this is the launch of the new Friendswood Library Young Adult Blog. I chose the name Book Bag after looking at the names of some other libraries' blog titles, but if there is a better name out there, let me know! I created this blog primarily so you can find out what activities are coming up for the 11-16 age group here at the library. I'll be posting brief descriptions of our activities, photos, book reviews, and other interesting things that I happen to see. In recent news: the TAG Christmas party was December 8, and everyone worked together to make it a success. Thanks to all the hardworking volunteers! We ate holiday snacks, sang Christmas karaoke, and had a snowball fight outside! Check out the library's Flickr site for all the pictures. We're taking a brief break during the Christmas holidays, but we'll be starting up again on January 11 with personalizing snack dishes to use every week. Instead of throwing away bowls and cups after our Fr...
