Mamma Mia, Here I Go Again! Oh and Breaking Dawn!!

Back to school anyway! I wonder if anyone is as excited/nervous about school starting again as I am...(Last night I actually had a nightmare about not being able to find my classroom on the first day of class! I even remember what the class was, American History This makes no sense, first because my classes are all online now, and I am done with American History classes for the rest of my life!)

Okay, besides that weird nightmare, I have good news! I have finished the planning of fall programs here at the library! If you would like a beautiful, full-color brochure of your very own you can pick one up here at the library in the juvenile dept. or in the YA area. If you're trying to be more green (and know you'll lose your brochure as soon as you walk out of the building! :P), I will post everything here as the year progresses.

First off, every Tuesday we'll be having Gaming Tuesdays. This means we're going to be playing some multi-player video games such as Wii, Guitar Hero, Rock Band and DDR from 4:00-5:00 every Tuesday. Don't miss it!

On Fridays, as usual, we'll be hanging out from 4:00-5:00 in the activity room. Before school starts we'll have a Back to School Forum for both new and returning students to junior high and high school to share hints and tips about dealing with life and school work for a new year and a new grade.

Now, my most important piece of business!

I finished Breaking Dawn (not easy with all the birthdays and weddings and Olympics this past week!) and I need to know what everyone thought!! Post a comment, email, or come in and visit me!!

See you soon!

Post-Thanksgiving Post

:) Did you like my pun there? I love bad jokes. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did, I love cooking with my mom, I love eating, I love taking family pictures, I especially LOVE cranberry sauce and PIE, and I even kinds love washing dishes (don't laugh!) so Thanksgiving is pretty much an ideal holiday for me. This year it was also my grandma's birthday so I got to talk to her on the phone for an hour. Well...maybe talk isn't the word I should use, listen is better since my grandma likes to ramble on and on. Remind you of anyone you know? :) Leave a comment to tell me about any fun traditions you have on Thanksgiving? My sister reenacted the funny commercial where the grandpa eats a scoop out of the pumpkin pie and then fills it in with cool whip! Hope everyone also survived the insanity of Black Friday! I ventured out late that evening when it had died down, but I didn't buy much, just an awesome cd and my sister bought a wonderful documentary: ...

Reading Rainbow-Hair

A few months ago I decided (with the help of several teens) that I wanted to make my own booktube channel of youtube and now it's a reality! If you don't hang out in the bookish community on youtube I'll explain, booktube is basically what it sounds like. Youtube channels dedicated to people reviewing and talking about books. Lots of them focus on new YA books but really people read across all genres. That's what I want to do. I'm a Youth Services librarian, so I read and love a lot of YA books, but I also read didn't genres/age groups etc. and I'm going to talk about all of them on my channel. BUT I won't just be talking about books by myself, some episodes will feature guests stars! First though, I recapped my favorite books from 2014 in two episodes (I talk so much we had to cut it in half). Watch them! Do all those nice things you can do to a youtube video: Like, Comment, Share, Subscribe! Stay posted for more! DFTBA, Sti

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban the second time around

Sirius Black's Wanted Poster Title/Year originally published: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban/1999 When I originally read it: 1999, I believe I got it for Christmas… What I thought of it then: When I first read this book I thought parts of it were the saddest things I’d ever read. When Harry overhears that his parents’ best friend betrayed them to Voldemort and was so angry he wanted to kill Sirius Black I cried, a lot. Besides that I thought the whole Time Turner device was really nifty on J.K.'s part (yeah, we're close, I can call her that*). I loved Lupin and the fact that chocolate is the remedy for when you've had all your worst memories brought to mind by Dementors.I also always love Scabbers so I was really sad when he turned out to be the betrayer of Lily and James Potter. Sigh. When I re-read it: January 2011 What my thoughts are now: This book is so great, I can see why it's a lot of people's favorite of the series. I mean, c'mon t...
