A few months ago I decided (with the help of several teens) that I wanted to make my own booktube channel of youtube and now it's a reality! If you don't hang out in the bookish community on youtube I'll explain, booktube is basically what it sounds like. Youtube channels dedicated to people reviewing and talking about books. Lots of them focus on new YA books but really people read across all genres. That's what I want to do. I'm a Youth Services librarian, so I read and love a lot of YA books, but I also read didn't genres/age groups etc. and I'm going to talk about all of them on my channel. BUT I won't just be talking about books by myself, some episodes will feature guests stars! First though, I recapped my favorite books from 2014 in two episodes (I talk so much we had to cut it in half). Watch them! The Green Brothers (John, author of YA books such as The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns; and Hank creator of the blog ecogeek.org), creators of Nerdfighteria , are at it again. They've just launched a new youtube page called Crash Course. Crash Course will be full of educational videos hosted by John and Hank. John will tackle World History while Hank will be all about the Biology! If their other youtube videos and appearances are any indication these videos are going to be informative, funny, fast-paced and definitely not boring! Need volunteer hours for school or court ordered community service? The Friendswood Public Library can help you out.  Volunteer Guidelines: -Must be at least 14 years old** -limit of 10 hours per year -Sign up for hours with a librarian in the Juvenile Department or call at 281-482-7135. Court Mandated: -Must be from City of Friendswood Court -We only accept curfew violations and minor traffic violations (i.e. speeding, run stoplight/stop sign etc.) - No violence related, theft, or drugs/alcohol related charges. School Mandated: -Friendswood area schools (i.e. Friendswood High School and Clear Brook High School) - No violence related, theft, or drugs/alcohol related charges. - We accept hours for truancy, make up hours (for missing school) We also offer service hours for School/Church/Girl or Boy Scouts (i.e. "Good Deeds").
