Hey, it's nearly summer! Are you ready for the Summer Reading Club? We have some really cool prizes for the YA Summer Reading Club this year. For Stage 1 (3 hours)- you'll get a certi ficate and envelope full of free stuff around town. Free Whataburger, Astros tickets and lo ts more! Stage 2 (6 more hours)- earbud holder. I hate it when my earbuds get all tangled, th is is a great way to stop that! Stage 3 (12 more hours)- Superhero Rubber Ducky! And Pool Party permission slip ( the Pool Part y is July 14) Stage 4 (24 more hours)- Stressball with the cutest little fa ce! Stage 5 (48 more hours)- Backpack you may already have one or two of the se, but do they say Friendswood Public L ibrary on them? I th ou ght not! We also have tons of awesome things going on YA programming wise. As you know, we have a YA program every Wednesday and Friday at 3:30 during June and July. Come join us for all the fun! I know I've been absent for a while, but if you've been at the library at all this summer I'm sure you understand! We've had a crazy busy summer so, at the end of June we had more people signed up for the Summer Reading Clubs then we had for the entire summer of 2010, so there's that. Need volunteer hours for school or court ordered community service? The Friendswood Public Library can help you out.  Volunteer Guidelines: -Must be at least 14 years old** -limit of 10 hours per year -Sign up for hours with a librarian in the Juvenile Department or call at 281-482-7135. Court Mandated: -Must be from City of Friendswood Court -We only accept curfew violations and minor traffic violations (i.e. speeding, run stoplight/stop sign etc.) - No violence related, theft, or drugs/alcohol related charges. School Mandated: -Friendswood area schools (i.e. Friendswood High School and Clear Brook High School) - No violence related, theft, or drugs/alcohol related charges. - We accept hours for truancy, make up hours (for missing school) We also offer service hours for School/Church/Girl or Boy Scouts (i.e. "Good Deeds"). When to volunteer: We accept volunteers all year long, but there are times when we need a little extra help. ...

Yesterday I hosted a Photo Editing program at the library for 11-14 year olds, I showed everyone a few (free!) websites where you can edit, decorate, or destroy photos online.
