It's that time again, the week set aside to bring attention to the problem of censorship. It is the 'only national celebration of the freedom to read.' The Banned Book Week website has lots of great information including information about their big project this year, a Virtual Read Out where you can film yourself reading excerpts from your favorite challenged or banned book and upload them to youtube. Thanks for everyone who took part in our Banned Book Week debate at the TAG meeting on Tuesday, though you probably all know my opinions on the subject, it was great to hear your opinions and I'm glad we were able to discuss them in a respectful way. :) As this week draws to a close, I wanted to post a link to one of the greatest explanations I've read about why libraries do not (and should not) remove/ban books that are challenged.
